While Apple’s iPhone event garners anticipation, Google wants you to remember that it has its own exciting announcements in store. Rather than rushing to host its event before Apple, Google has opted for a series of tantalizing teaser videos to build anticipation for its upcoming devices. Following the initial hints about the Pixel 8 lineup, Google has now shifted its focus to the eagerly awaited Pixel Watch 2.
A noticeable change in the 15-second teaser is the presence of “IP68” printed on the back of the device. This revelation signifies that the Pixel Watch 2 will come equipped with IP68 dust- and water-resistance, enhancing its durability compared to the previous model.
It’s worth noting that last year’s Pixel Watch lacked an IP rating, which is commonly used for smartwatches. The original Pixel Watch boasted water resistance of up to 50 meters and the ability to “withstand some rain, shallow pools, and exercise-induced sweat,” according to Google.
In terms of design, aside from some minor cosmetic tweaks to the crown, the Pixel Watch 2 maintains a similar appearance to its predecessor. For a comprehensive look at the device, we’ll have to wait until the Made by Google event on October 4.
There’s one more exciting detail from the video: Google has announced that Pixel Watch 2 preorders will kick off on October 4 as well. This suggests that the device is likely to hit the market sometime next month. So, mark your calendars and get ready to explore Google’s robust and highly anticipated smartwatch.
